Ava Lauren Krolik arrived on Monday, May 8th at 10:14am. She weighs 7 pounds 13 ounces and measures 20 inches long. Linsey's scheduled c-section went very well, although she had started was going into labor the whole night before and by the time the operating room was ready, those contractions were starting to be more intense and painful. Bring on that spinal block!
Jeff had the honor of announcing that it was a girl, Ava, to Linsey when Ava made her appearance. It was a very exciting moment, as we chose to keep the gender a surprise this time around. Ava has lots of brown hair with maybe a little bit of a red tint to it. Will she look like her sister Lily or her brother Ben?
Unfortunately, when the nurses took Ava for her initial evaluation, she appeared "dusky," meaning that she was turning a bit blue. They determined that her oxygen saturation was low and, after coming back to Mommy for a quick kiss, she was taken immediately to the NICU (neo-natal intensive care unit) for observation.
Linsey's parents, Nana Karin and Grandpa Steve, were there and joined Linsey in the recovery room, while Jeff went with Ava to the NICU. We all waited for news and to spend time with our new little beautiful girl...
