The kids have gotten to be pretty good swimmers in our hot tub over the last year. These days, instead of napping, Ben and Lily hop in to their swimsuits and go for a dip. This, rather than the year of swim lessons at AVAC (which were fun, but 30 minutes once a week does not a swimmer make) is how they have learned how to breathe underwater. Granted, it is in 2 feet of water, but they have made the most of it. Lily just recently asked for swim goggles, so I got them some and they tried them out today. Lily took to them right away, Ben had to practice a bit before he was comfy. After a little while (cough, cough, choke, choke), I did have to explain to Lily that the goggles don't help you breathe underwater and be a real mermaid, just see better underwater.
Ava likes to swim too, but also just likes splashing around in the sprinklers and such. Ah, summer.
