I have been working on my own now for almost 4 years, so no IT department exists - apart from my husband who, although a techhie, has his own job and other stuff to do and does not enjoy being called all the time on issues such as "The power went out and now its back on, but I can't remember what thingy to turn on to make the network printer work..." or "My Outlook is acting up again and it won't even open - what should I do?" or "My computer died...again..." I have gone through three PCs in the past 4 years. I guess I am a bit of a power user, but I feel like computers should last more than 18 months.
A few months ago I (well, my husband) wiped the hard drive and started over with everything, because it was running so slowly. It took me a week to get up and running completely again, by the time I got simple things like Outlook to work again (I tried to install Office 2007 and it froze the system even though it was basically a new computer - never figured out that one...). I vowed I would get a Mac next time I was in need of a computer. Little did I know that would be only 2 months later. My PC just didn't turn on one day. Maddening!
A few visits to the Apple store and talks with Mac users later, I am the proud owner of a Mac. Yes, I have made the switch and I hardly miss that right-click at all. Neither does my husband IT department.
